About Advent

Church of the Advent of Christ the King is an historic Anglo-Catholic parish of the Episcopal Diocese of California, which is part of the Anglican Communion of the one holy catholic and apostolic Church. Founded in 1858, we are one of the oldest parishes in the diocese. The parish is located in the Civic Center/Hayes Valley area of San Francisco in the heart of the city. The Episcopal Church affirms that every human being, without distinction, is created in the image of God, and has a full and equal claim on the love and pastoral care of the Church. If you are attracted to a Church which provides a full sacramental life of grace, with a compassionate, tolerant, and reasonable approach to the issues of life, without prejudice and without rigidity, we hope you will consider becoming affiliated with Church of the Advent of Christ the King. We invite you to explore our web site and learn more about us.

Worship with Us

To be a member of Church of the Advent is to be a part of a worshiping community. Worship is the central purpose of the life of our parish, and we've maintained a strong liturgical tradition in our 150-year history. Daily worship is a central experience that binds us as a catholic Christian community. Liturgies are conducted according to the 1979 Book of Common Prayer using Rite 2. We gather daily to celebrate Mass on a schedule to fit the diverse needs of the community in which we live. Sunday Masses are a joyous celebration of the Resurrection of our Savior. We invite you to make daily worship a part of your everyday life.
