Today, the Book of Esther will be the focus of study in “readers’ theatre” format, 1-1:50pm in Lathrop Hall. This series, led by Heidi Edson, runs today and next Sunday. Feel free to attend one or both of the sessions. Do come and participate whether or not you have read Esther in advance.
Tuesday, Book Club meets at 7pm, following Evening Prayer and a light supper, to discuss “Selections from 50 years of Poetry by Lewis Brown,” facilitated by the author himself. Says the author, “Most of what I have written is neither cozy nor domesticated. Consider that a warning. But it should be a fun session.” Please sign up in Lathrop Hall to ensure an accurate count for supper.
Our last Book Club meeting until September will be 25 May. It's especially exciting because Fr Basil will lead our conversation about a book written by his sister: Waiting For Bluebirds by June Matthews, an evacuees journey through the Second World War, is 273 pages. So buy it in time for a comfortable read. It can be purchased through Amazon books via our website.

A multiplying miracle for the Advent music ministry:
If you enjoyed the sublime music of Holy Week offered by Paul Ellison and Schola Adventus, and have been considering a donation to the St. Cecilia Guild to support this ministry of music, you now have the opportunity to double your contribution through the generosity of an anonymous donor, who is providing a total of $500 as a matching grant. For every donation of any amount, up to a total of $500, the anonymous donor will provide a matching donation. Thus $500 in total donations can become $1000. For the choir, which presently has no budget even for music scores or binders, this support would be most welcome. The deadline for donations to be included in this matching contribution is Ascension Day, 13 May. Please make your checks payable to Church of the Advent of Christ the King, and indicate St. Cecilia Guild on the memo line.
Saturday, at 4:30pm, the rosary will be recited as it will every Saturday in May, Our Lady’s month, as part of the ministry of the Regina Coeli Cell.
Come reflect on the beauty of stained glass on Monday, 26 Apr, 7:30-9:30pm, at St Dominic’s (Steiner St between Pine and Bush, SF), as representatives of Grace Cathedral, St Matthew’s Lutheran, Temple Sherith Israel, and St Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church explain how the stained glass treasures of their respective house of worship support the worship and spiritual formation which take place inside its walls. Canon Mark Stanger will represent Grace Cathedral.
In June, July, and August, the rosary will be recited only on the first Saturday of the month at 4:30pm. After this experiment, the members will meet to evaluate the success of the new time for the rosary. We will need volunteers to lead the weekly recitation throughout May, so if you are available on any Saturday in May, please contact the Regina Coeli Cell secretary, Pamela Vaughn, at plvaughn@gmail.com
Next Sunday's readings will be Acts 11:1-18; Psalm 148; Revelation 21:1-6; John 13:31-35.
Rejoicing in the beauty of creation blooming amongst us, we pray:
“O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
