Ministries and Outreach
There are a multitude of opportunities for Christian service at Church of the Advent. Listed below is a selection of the ministries we offer:
Worship
Acolytes
The Acolytes assist at the Masses on Sundays and weekdays. They may bear torches, carry the crucifix or incense, serve as subdeacon or master of ceremonies, or assist the celebrant at low Masses. Acolytes must be communicants in good standing.

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild makes the material preparations for services at the altar. Members clean and care for the sacred vessels, maintain and set out the vestments and linens, and put these items away after Masses. Most of the work is done on Saturdays and Sundays. Members must be communicants in good standing.
Lectors and Intercessors
Lectors read the lesson(s) at Mass; Intercessors offer the Prayers of the People.
Regina Coeli Cell of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham
The Regina Coeli Cell of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham is part of an international devotional society whose principal ministry is intercessory prayer and promotion of Catholic devotion to Mary. Members pray daily according to requests from parishioners and meet quaterly to pray the Rosary and participate in a Mass for the Holy House of Walsingham.
Ushers
The Ushers welcome and seat people at services, hands out worship materials, takes the offering, and tidies up the church after everyone leaves.
Outreach
Hospitality - St Benedict Guild
Volunteers provide light refreshments on Sundays and designated weekday Feast Days and are responsible for setup and cleanup.

Library Committee
The Library Committee oversees the parish library, which covers a full range of religious topics.
The Christian Education Committee
The Christian Education Committee plans educational programs for the parish throughout the year and assists the Rector in teaching the Inquirer's Class for those seeking confirmation or reception in the Episcopal Church.

Behind the Scenes
Buildings & Grounds Committee
The Garden Committee maintain the church garden. They plant, prune, rake, weed and generally care for the grounds on a weekly basis.
Office Volunteers
Office Volunteers assist with clerical duties as needed, such as typing, folding Mass bulletins, and preparing mailings.
